Closing was a mess, but we painted the bathroom!

It has been a while since my last update. Frankly I needed to cool down before I wrote what our experience was like moving in last Wednesday.

Last Wednesday went a little something like this, we woke up started packing up the pickup truck and the 26 foot uhaul. While packing we found out that the 2pm closing we were suppose to have would be pushed back. NO big deal we can just keep loading the truck and drive it to the house and wait. WELL they kept pushing it back and Puffin finally went and closed around 6pm...... Or at least that was the plan. Wells Fargo (worst company ever) failed to send finished documents on time and it went back and fourth and Puffin finally arrived at the new house with the keys at 10:00PM. So massive panic attack and crazy moving in began. Most of the furniture had been moved from the truck to the front yard and organized in a fashion to get it into the house as quick as possible! IT WAS CRAZY! BUT we are in and loving the new home. Oh and the newest addition also Puffins Present to me is a Keurig!!!! Below is my first cup that I brewed with that fantastic machine!!!

On to the bathroom- I am so excited about this work in progress. The pictures you are about to see below are just the beginning. We are changing the wall color from this awful adobe to a much richer dark brown- I LOVE IT! The cabinets will also undergo a makeover as well but don't want to reveal what changes will be made until they are finished. My wonderful father who will be referred to as "Rad Dad" helped me paint and also let me know I am terrible at cutting in and I go way to slow! I reminded him I am new at this but he just proceeded to take over and I became more of a "supervisor". This home ownership is really teaching me a lot and I cant wait to continue to improve my painting skills! Here is a small before and in process. Tonight we put on the final coat of paint and I will post that tomorrow or in my next post!

OK so there is the progress so far! I cannot wait to have this finished!! For your viewing pleasure here is a look from the upstairs over the downstairs living room!!!

SO there are a couple pictures of our new beautiful home! I will have more pictures of the kitchen and bedroom in the next post!

Side note- Nebraska Furniture mart is the greatest place on earth.... I learned I am Cray in that place! I say yes to everything!!! Happy Thursday!

Good News, great memories, and transformation begins

Well we CLOSE ON WEDNESDAY!!! Finally we have some closure to the ever long home loan process. It has been a long time coming and Puffin and I are so thrilled. (as soon as we can get pictures up I will post them) Here is the outside of what we will SOON call home!

Last night Puffin took me to a wonderful steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse- we always talk about going there but haven't had time to actually "go on a date" in about 2 months it seems like. So we went, I had fillet he impressed our waiter by finishing the largest bone in something steak smothered in cheese and mushrooms and onions. The waiter said "wow you finished it" like he was surprised- I started thinking to myself he would really be impressed if he knew what his old "football" eating habits were.

This brings us to the memories:

When I first met Puffin he was well training for football still and weighed about 35 more pounds SOLID MUSCLE he was the size of a refrigerator. My parents after meeting him for the first time, called me down the next morning and informed me " Puffin is on steroids. There is no way he isn't and you need to be careful." I let them know "they were hilariously delusional and Puffin is harmless and NOT on ROIDS nor will he ROID RAGE on me." This is a memory we often look back and laugh at. Mostly because over the next two months they learned his workout regimen and how much food he had to eat. The first time I watched Puffin Kill a 10 egg omelet loaded with potatoes, and sausage I about threw up. He was miserable but had to eat the calories to maintain his weight and muscles Below is a picture of him with only HALF of his body showing. I am 6'2 and he dwarfs me in this picture.

I also remember when we first moved in together and he realized I was not going to be the Paula Dean of the house and I am what some would call "challenged" in the kitchen. Shortly after that he took over all grilling and most of the cooking, I can make a mean salad from a salad kit. One of the reason I want to talk about this is as this blog transforms and develops I will focus on the fact that I am starting to enjoy trying to cook, and DIY projects and those of you that know me understand what challenges will lie ahead for me in this area what is a screw driver?.Those who don't know me I hope you enjoy watching me attempt to cook meals and get my hands dirty updating OUR NEW HOUSE!!!!

Growing up in my 20's

I guess I should take time to introduce myself. For those that dont know me My name is Meghan and over the next year or so there will be some big changes happening for me.

1. Buying a house with my fiance- We close sometime this week or next.
2. Got a promotion at my job- there is now 10x's more pressure than before.
3. Getting married April 6th 2013.

That being said I should introduce you to my Puffin- That is what I will refer to him as throughout posts.
Many people that know us well think we should have our own reality show. The most random things happen to us and we are the true epitotme of SOULMATES. Puffin has walked into my life an changed it in so many ways- but we will have a mushy post all about him later on in this blog journey!

The reason I wanted to start this blog is I feel as though almost any negative can be turned into a life lesson or a positive situation. Through this next year with all the changes I am sure there are going to be some seriously negative and challenging situations and I will have this to look back on and remind me there is always a POSITIVE! I am excited to share stories and experiences with everyone as we go through this journey of changes.
